Sylvia Herbozo PhD

  • Associate Professor, Departments of Psychiatry and Surgery
Dr. Herbozo received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Florida and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the Program for Obesity, Weight, and Eating Research at Yale University. Prior to her current position, she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Loma Linda University.

Heather Eisele PhD

  • Assistant Professor Psychiatry and Surgery Department
Dr. Eisele received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and completed her fellowship in health psychology at Loyola University Medical Center. She is a clinical health psychologist with experience in addressing coping and adjustment for a variety of health issues, including bariatric surgery/weight management, solid organ and bone marrow transplant, sleep medicine, oncology, chronic pain, neurological disorders, gastrointestinal problems, diabetes, and smoking cessation.

Krystal Badillo MS

Krystal is a Ph.D. student at Illinois instate of technology. Her research interest includes body image, eating pathology, and social media. She is currently working on her dissertation to identify patterns of social media use in patients with eating pathology that may contribute to increased disordered eating.

Hanna Christian

Hanna Christian is a senior at Colgate University and is double majoring in Psychology and Anthropology. As a member of Colgate's Women's Lacrosse team, she is interested in the relationship between eating disorders and athletics. She hopes to continue research and eventually pursue her Phd in clinical psychology. Outside of research, Hanna enjoys painting and trail running.

Farah is a motivated senior double majoring in psychology and Spanish and minoring in neuroscience. She studied abroad in Spain in the Spring of 2020. She has been involved in research studying the mental health and coping of Latino families, Middle Eastern immigrant and refugee students, and Mexican-origin mothers.

Matthew F. Murray MS

  • Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Psychiatry
Matthew is a Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student at the Illinois Institute of Technology. His research primarily focuses on the intersection of sexual orientation and eating pathology as it relates to risk and maintenance factors and treatment efficacy. Matthew has served as a Graduate Research Assistant in Dr. Sylvia Herbozo’s Body Image and Eating Behaviors Lab since March of 2018 and completed a 2019-2020 clinical practicum in the bariatric surgery program at UI Health.

Alison K. Newman PhD, ABPP

Dr. Alison Newman is a clinical health psychologist. She graduated from University of Arizona after majoring in Psychology. She then moved to San Diego in 2006 where she began her graduate education in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. She completed an internship in Clinical Health Psychology at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Isabel C. Quinones BS

Isabel C. Quiñones is currently an extern at the University of Illinois at Chicago Bariatric Surgery Program conducting pre-surgery evaluations with patients. She is a graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). As part of the Eating Behavior Lab at IIT, under the direction of Dr. Alissa Haedt-Matt, Isabel’s research focuses on eating pathology assessment and prevention with a focus in the Latino population. Being bilingual has allowed Isabel to conduct psychotherapy in both Spanish and English at The Circle Resource Center, as well as working in the Comprehensive Eating Disorders Program at University of Michigan.

Lindsay Zasadinski BS

Lindsay is a graduate student in the Master of Social Work/Master of Public Health progam at UIC. She is a research assistant in the Body Image and Eating Behaviors lab. She is also a research assistant at the Clinical Nutrition Research Center at ITT where she is studying eating behaviors, specifically related to consumer’s perspectives and understanding of food labels. She is also examining how mindfulness, health perception, and other factors may impact food and label choices. Lindsay plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and expand upon her nutrition research. Her research interests include nutrition, eating disorders, and obesity in children and adolescents.
