Natania Crane PhD

  • Assistant Professor
  • Associate Director of the UIC Recovery Clinic
Dr. Crane is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Associate Director of the UIC Recovery Clinic. She is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Her research utilizes multiple methods (i.e., fMRI, EEG, cognitive, clinical, and self-report measures) to examine the brain and behavioral risk factors and consequences of Substance Use Disorders, especially Cannabis Use Disorder. An important aspect of her research is studying the relationship between clinical mental health factors and substance use, particularly between depression and cannabis use. Dr. Crane received her PhD in Clinical Psychology, completed her Clinical Internship and T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship at UIC, with an emphasis in Neuropsychology. She has received Early Career Travel Awards from the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, the Society of Biological Psychiatry, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the American Psychological Foundation, as well as a K23 Early Career Development Award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

Julia Brooks MA

Julia is currently a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Her research interests lie in examining behavioral and neural components involved in the interplay between anxiety, depression, and substance use, particularly cannabis and nicotine use.

Zoa Glab BA, BS

Zoa graduated from Loyola University Chicago in Spring 2020 with degrees in Neuroscience and Philosophy. At Loyola they were awarded a Carbon Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship to study the impact of media violence exposure on emotional face processing, and presented findings at several conferences. They aim to attend graduate school in future and produce good research that can be directly applied to support communities around them.

Sissi Huang MA

Sissi received her M.A. in Psychology from the University of Chicago in Spring 2021, where her thesis focuses on age-dependent subjective effect after acute THC use. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2020 with a major in Psychology and a minor in Neuroscience. Her research interests lie in the differential susceptibility of substances in different population and implications in their therapeutic potentials.

Milena Radoman MS

  • Graduate Research Assistant
Milena is a graduate student in the CoNECt Lab with Dr. Olusola A. Ajilore. She received her B.A. in Neuroscience from Wellesley College in 2015. Milena is working under a joint mentorship between Dr. Olusola A. Ajilore and Drs. K. Luan Phan and Stephanie M. Gorka (currently at the Ohio State University). Her research focuses on identifying the neurobiological risk factors for mood and substance use disorders, with a specific emphasis on individual differences in threat and reward responding. Milena’s long-term objective is to translate knowledge gained from her research into the development of more effective prevention, intervention and treatment efforts for patient populations.
