Tina Grieco-Calub PhD, CCC-A

Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Research Scientist
Director for Childhood Hearing Research

Tina Grieco-Calub, PhD, CCC-A is a visiting associate professor and the Director of Childhood Hearing Research in the Institute for Juvenile Research (IJR) in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago. She is an ASHA-certified audiologist who spent her early career providing clinical services to patients across the lifespan who are deaf or hard of hearing. She has integrated her clinical experience with her diverse research training in neuroscience, auditory development, and language acquisition to develop her current research program.

Binita Adhikari

Research Assistant, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Binita is a research assistant at the ListenUp Collaborative lab within the Institute for Juvenile Research (IJR) at the Department of Psychiatry. Currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Applied Psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), she focuses on literacy and language learning in children with hearing loss. Binita's research interests primarily lie in the mental health of children. She aspires to continue her academic journey by pursuing graduate studies in clinical psychology.

Sofiia Boiko

Undergraduate Research Assistant, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab and PEACE Lab

Sofiia is an undergraduate student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her major is General Psychology, and Criminology, Law and Justice. She’s passionate about clinical psychology, especially topics of childhood trauma development and war-related PTSD development in refugees. She is a member of two labs at UIC: ListenUp Research Collaborative and PEACE Lab, as well as board member of PsiChi chapter at UIC. In the future, she plans to pursue a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology.

Zayra Chavez

Undergraduate Research Assistant, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Zayra is a research volunteer at the Institute for Juvenile Research in the Department of Psychiatry. While obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she has engaged in formal observational and interactive experiences with early childhood-aged children, counselors, learning coaches, education teachers, and Title 1 instructors.

Diana Cortez BS

Research Specialist, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Diana is a research specialist at the Institute for Juvenile Research and is a member of the ListenUP Research Collaborative lab. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology at the University of Minnesota. Her research interests include cognitive, hearing and language development in children.

Danbi (Tan Bi) Kim BA

Research Associate II, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Danbi is a research associate in the ListenUP Collaborative lab at the Institute for Juvenile Research (IJR) in the Department of Psychiatry. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a certificate in Neuroscience from Wheaton College. In her current role, Danbi is involved in several research projects focusing on cognition, hearing, and speech perception in children. Her primary research interests include the mental health and emotional development of young children.

Arleth Isais-Gonzalez

Undergraduate Research Assistant, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Arleth is a first-year undergraduate student who is majoring in Psychology. She is a volunteer of Dr. Grieco-Calub’s laboratory ListenUP Research Collaborative. She has a particular interest in developmental psychology and expanding her overall knowledge in the field.

Hannah Kiperman BA

Research Associate ll, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Hannah is a research associate with the ListenUP Research Collaborative lab at the Institute for Juvenile Research (IJR) in the Department of Psychiatry. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish from Miami University.

Frankie Kulwin BA

Research Assistant, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Frankie graduated from the University of Wisconsin in December of 2023 with a degree in Psychology and certificates in Gender and Women’s studies and Photography. While she hopes to pursue a PhD in Clinical Child Psychology, she is taking a gap year to gain research experience volunteering at the ListenUP Research Collaborative.

Josephine LaPapa

Undergraduate Research Assistant, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Josephine is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a concentration in Audiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC). Josephine is a project leader in the Binaural Hearing Lab at UIUC and an undergraduate research volunteer at the ListenUP Collaborative Lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Heidi Mettler PhD, CCC-SLP

Postdoctoral Research Associate, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Dr. Mettler is a postdoctoral research associate in the ListenUP Research Collaborative in the Institute for Juvenile Research at the University of Illinois Chicago. She completed her doctoral training at the University of Arizona, specializing in developmental language impairments and interventions.

Paulina Ortiz BS

Research Assistant, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Paulina is currently a research assistant at the ListenUp Collaborative lab, a division of the Institute of Juvenile Research (IJR) within the Department of Psychiatry. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Science in Clinical Psychology from Northeastern University.

Dheeraj Yerneni

Undergraduate Research Assistant, ListenUP Research Collaborative Lab

Dheeraj Yerneni is pursuing a unique dual degree in Computer Science and Linguistics, an interdisciplinary combination that allows him to approach complex problems from multiple perspectives. This multitalented individual possesses a deep understanding of both technological and linguistic principles, leveraging his analytical skills and coding proficiency to develop innovative solutions. Dheeraj is driven and dedicated, continuously exploring new frontiers to expand his knowledge base.
