Dr. Rusch served as a panelist at the November 7th UIC Child Migration Across the Americas Symposium that was co-sponsored by the Dept of Anthropology, Gender and Women's Studies, and Institute for the Humanities She presented on "Evidence-based practice within the context of structural violence: Advocacy-centered and empowerment-based clinical care."
On November 7th, the Department of Anthropology, Gender and Women's Studies, and Institute for the Humanities co-sponsored the Child Migration Across the Americas Symposium (funded by a Mellon Foundation Affirming Multivocal Humanities grant). The symposium aimed to understand the past and present complexities of child migration on our continent. It brought together UIC scholars, international researchers, activists, artists, and migrants and featured a Keynote Presentation by acclaimed writer Reyna Grande, author of the bestselling memoir "The Distance Between Us."
