Dr. Judith Cook et al. publish study results on worklife burnout in the mental health peer specialist workforce
Certified peer specialists are a growing workforce that uses their lived experience of a behavioral health disorders plus skills learned in formal training to deliver support services. Despite their important role in the mental health care system and research on their working conditions, their experiences of burnout have not been widely studied. Dr. Judith Cook and colleagues conducted a pioneering study on predictors of worklife burnout among this workforce.
