Dr. Labott began her career studying emotional expression, specifically weeping. Interests in emotional expression and health lead to the study of health psychology and psychological issues associated with adjustment to medical issues. She began the Health Psychology Service at UIC in 1997; this service currently provides inpatient consultation and outpatient psychological services to individuals dealing with a variety of significant medical conditions. She is also active with the UIC Institutional Review Board, serving as Chair of the Social/Behavioral board since 2004.
