Ruwaida Khadeer is a rising junior in the guaranteed medicine program at UIC (GPPA Medical Scholars Program). Though she is open to all specialties, she is especially excited about the fields of psychiatry and neurology. During high school, Ruwaida worked with neurologists and medical students from Rush University Medical Center as part of a neurology internship designed to improve the quality of life of Alzheimer’s patients. She has also been a part of several other medical programs, such as Dr. Rubin’s Mini Medical School and the Perry Initiative (a program designed to introduce young girls to the fields of orthopedic surgery and biomedical engineering). Ruwaida also did research as a high school student and was a double Gold Award recipient at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Level Exposition. Ruwaida is excited to further expose herself to medical research and patient communication during her time as a research volunteer in undergrad.
