Matthew Atienza, M.D. is the medical director of adult inpatient behavioral health at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. Dr. Atienza completed his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Arizona. He has been an inpatient attending psychiatrist at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital since 2016. Dr. Atienza is a member of the core faculty for the Lutheran General psychiatry residency program, and actively involved in the education of medical students from the University of Illinois as well as other institutions. His clinical interests include treatment resistant depression, with a focus on electroconvulsive therapy.
