Maria Kundakovic

Marija Kundakovic received her PhD in Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics working with Dr. Dennis Grayson at the UIC Psychiatric Institute, where she participated in the pioneering work on the epigenetic dysregulation in schizophrenia. Her postdoctoral training at Columbia University explored the epigenetic mechanisms through which early-life adversity exerts long-term effects on brain function and behavior. At the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Kundakovic was a key member of a large-scale, epigenomics study of schizophrenia within the PsychENCODE Consortium. In 2015, she was awarded a NARSAD Young Investigator Award and accepted a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at Fordham University. Dr. Kundakovic's laboratory studies the epigenetic mechanisms that contribute to behavioral variation and psychiatric disorders, focusing on brain sexual dimorphism.
