His educational journey included training at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar and Rush University Medical Center in the USA. Dr. Alshawwaf has prestigious titles of Arab Board of Health Specializations in Psychiatry and Fellow of the American Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

He worked as a general adult psychiatrist for more than five years in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings and recently as a Consultation liaison psychiatrist in general medical hospitals playing a major in the integration strategy of mental health facilities in the community.

He has demonstrated experience in treating ailments like Mood disorders, Anxiety disorders, PTSD, Psychosis, Substance Use Disorders, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and Psychiatric conditions in Medically ill patients.
