Dr. Winer is an internationally known leader in psychoanalytic training, administration, treatment and publication. He was editor of THE ANNUAL OF PSYCHOANALYSIS from 1991 until recently and served as the Director of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis from 1998 until 2004. He has been Chair of the Committee on Ethics of the International Psycho-Analytical Association and received its Award for Extremely Meritorious Service in 2005. He has contributed widely to psychiatric and psychoanalytic journals as well as serving on several editorial boards. He is a past president of the American College of Psychoanalysts, an honorary association of medical psychoanalysts.
