The support offered by the T32 allowed me to devote my time exclusively to research. My performance as a graduate student increased immensely during that period and even now I benefit from that time of interrupted scientific work. The opportunity to focus intensely on experiments and the study of scientific literature helped me in the decision to try to become an independent investigator with my own laboratory. To achieve that goal, I am currently working on finishing my doctoral dissertation and searching for postdoctoral positions. I know for a fact that my chances of becoming a PI have been enhanced by the support offered by the T32.
