- Speaker
Dr. Erica Baller is a dedicated physician-scientist who uses diverse imaging modalities and informatics to uncover the mechanisms that underlie mood and cognition in patients with comorbid psychiatric and medical illnesses. With a strong foundation in consultation-liaison psychiatry and an extensive background in neuroimaging, Dr. Baller is a bridge-builder between the realms of clinical practice and cutting-edge research. She completed her undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Psychology from Yale University, and after medical school, completed her general psychiatry residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and T32 Neuropsychiatry Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. She currently serves as PI of the Baller Laboratory, where she is funded by a K23 and a NARSAD Young Investigator Award grant and uses multiple sclerosis as a model to better understand how white matter disease contributes to depression, anxiety, and cognitive impairment. In addition to directing the Baller Lab, Dr. Baller serves as an Attending Psychiatrist on the Consultation-Liaison psychiatry service at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is Director of the Neuroscience Curriculum for the Penn psychiatry residency.
