Daphne Gavins, Director of Human Resources & Faculty Affairs, is an experienced HR professional with over 23 years of experience in the public, private and academic sectors.  Daphne is responsible for implementing human resource management strategies and the management of faculty affairs for the Department of Psychiatry. 

Prior to joining the Department of Psychiatry, Daphne served as the Visiting Assistant Director of Faculty Affairs and Human Resources for the University of Illinois at Chicago, Faculty Affairs - Office of the Provost. Prior to joining UIC, Daphne worked at the University of Chicago for 15 years Directing Human Resource and Faculty Affairs for the Department of Radiology.   Through these capacities, Daphne has acquired intimate knowledge of human resources management, academic faculty affairs, faculty promotions and tenure (P&T), human resources development, organizational management, onboarding, training and development, performance management, employee retention, strategic management, employee labor relations, conflict resolution, bargaining unit relations, compensation & benefits, employment laws, policies/procedures, compliance requirements, administrative as well as academic networks that interface across the University.  

Daphne holds a BA in Business Management, with a Concentration of Human Resources from Robert Morris College, and is currently a Master’s in Human Resource Management student at the UIUC.  She is certified through the Human Resource Certification Institute as a Human Resource Professional (PHR).
