Avril De la Cruz is a student at the University of Illinois Chicago in the Guaranteed Pre-Professional Admissions (GPPA) Medical Scholars Program. She has joined the ACCESS for Mental Health Lab as a research assistant. Her interests in the field include advocacy for social determinants impacting underserved communities, and equitable access to healthcare. Avril plans to pursue an MD degree, becoming a pediatrician in the future.
