About Andrew's experience on the training grant, he writes:

During my time at UIC, I completed a PhD in Neuroscience through the T32 program, under Dr. Mark Rasenick, entitled: “Dynamic interactions between G proteins and plasma membrane nanodomains: effects of antidepressants and polyunsaturated fatty acids. ”This resulted in several publications related to the impact of antidepressants on lipid raft signaling. My undergraduate research experience was with chemistry and Dr. Rasenick arranged for part of my project (not yet published) to be done with a member of the UIC Physics Department (Dr. Ursula Peres-Salas) on the interaction of antidepressant compounds with artificial membranes. After completing my medical and graduate school training at UIC, I began an R25-funded research track residency at University of Texas at Southwestern. Working under the mentorship of Dr. Madhukar Trivedi, I have received additional training in translational biomarker discovery in Major Depressive Disorder. This has resulted in several accepted depression biomarker publications with many additional publications under preparation. Additionally, I am on track to complete a graduate certificate in clinical sciences in May 2019. I also submitted a K23 career development award in February 2019 entitled “Integrated clinical, metabolic and cognitive phenotyping of Major Depressive Disorder.”
