In September 2024, Dr. Dana Rusch was awarded grant funding from NIH for a clinical intervention trial "Can A Youth Civic Leadership, Engagement and Mindfulness Program Reduce Structural Racism, and Support Functioning and Well-being for Youth of Color?" The Future Leaders Program is 4-year clinical intervention trial funded by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. This trial will test two afterschool interventions (1) LEAP-civic engagement and leadership with mindfulness and (2) EnvisionIT-college readiness and career planning and measure the impact on mental health outcomes for high school youth of color in Chicago, IL and Boston, MA.
