FDA Approves Ketamine Nasal Spray as New Depression Treatment

Dr. Mark Rasenick, distinguished professor of physiology & biophysics and psychiatry in the UIC College of Medicine, is quoted in an article on the WTTW Chicago Tonight website on the announcement that the FDA will soon approve the drug ketamine to treat depression. “When it gets out to the general public, even though it’s supposed to be tightly controlled, who knows what happens and it’s a lot easier to put something in your nose than in your veins, Rasenick says in the article.
