The Nature and Transmission of Intergenerational Trauma

Ross Pepper is a current PGY4 resident in the General Psychiatry Residency Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at Rice University and subsequently graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. His clinical interests include mood/anxiety disorders and cross-cultural psychiatry.

Objectives:

1. Understand the long-term effects of trauma
2. Describe the various mechanisms by which trauma can be transmitted to future generations
3. Explore avenues for improvement in treatment and prevention of trauma-related disorders
