Event Details

In this presentation, the speakers will provide an introduction to Natural Language Processing (NLP) and explore the evolution of Large Language Models (LLMs). They will discuss the advantages and disadvantages associated with LLMs. Additionally, a cloud-based AI tool will be demonstrated, showcasing its ability to detect suicide ideation and offer prognosis and diagnosis recommendations based on the user/patient's mental state.

Runa Bhaumik, Ph.D., is a computer scientist and Research Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in the Biostatistics Research Program at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). She is also a member of the Center of Health Equity using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence within the UIC College of Medicine. Dr. Bhaumik's research is primarily focused on the application of statistical, machine learning/artificial intelligence (ML/AI), and natural language processing (NLP) technologies in the field of health science research, with a particular emphasis on Psychiatry and Public Health. She has actively participated in numerous studies funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the domains of public health and Psychiatry research. Currently, her research centers around building web-based tools using cutting-edge transformer models and cloud architecture for healthcare.

Vineet Srivastava is an MS student in Business Analytics at the University of Illinois Chicago, bringing over 5 years of professional experience in various AI domains, including Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (Large Language Models), and Deep Learning. Additionally, Vineet possesses hands-on expertise in wireless technologies/IoT protocols. Notably, Vineet played a pivotal role in designing and implementing the MindWatch tool, leveraging data engineering technologies and cloud analytics.
