Event Details

Dr. Surya Sabhapathy (pronouns: she/her) completed her undergraduate studies and a dual MD/MPH degree at the University of Michigan. She is currently a chief resident in the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Adult Psychiatry program. As part of the clinician-educator track, she has developed an integrated care rotation for senior psychiatric residents with UIC’s Department of Family Medicine. She also co-directs the PGY-1 and PGY-3 cultural psychiatry didactic courses. Dr. Sabhapathy presently serves on the UIC Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of LGBTQ People and Allies. Her clinical interests include providing and expanding access to comprehensive mental health care for underserved populations, particularly among women and LGBT/gender-nonconforming people of color. Dr. Sabhapathy is delighted to be staying on at UIC as a faculty member next year, and hopes to continue expanding clinical services for gender and sexual minorities.
