Department Profile

Training is accomplished through a variety of modalities. Initially, each student will be asked to participate in a 10-week training period beginning in July on determined clinic days, during which time he/she will also attend a 2-hour introductory seminar weekly.  During this training period each student will be taught administration and scoring of neuropsychological tests through both direct observation and practice.  Methodology of test administration will be closely supervised.

In addition to individual case supervision, training will occur through didactic conferences including attendance at the UIC Applied Neuropsychology Seminar, which is a weekly meeting devoted to special topics and case presentations in the clinical neurosciences, as well as group supervision and a seminar in neuroanatomy.

Students will be expected to provide a minimum of 16 hours per week of service.  Although clinic days are somewhat flexible, a commitment on Friday for didactic experiences is expected.

The clinical case material, supervision, and conferences which make up this practicum are designed to provide a broad introduction to clinical neuropsychology, and to prepare the student for further specialized training in the field.
