Clinician-Educator Track

The Clinician Educator (CE) Track offers residents advanced training, experience, and professional support for residents interested in a career in academic medicine (e.g. residency and fellowship program directors, medical student clerkship directors, and teaching). The CE Track is concurrent with the four-year psychiatry residency program. Interested residents apply in their PGY-2 year. We accept up to 2 residents per PGY cohort. The program consists of:

  • Weekly protected time for CE track activities during the resident's PGY-3 and PGY-4 year
  • Mentorship with faculty who have expertise in medical education
  • Formal didactics on education topics (e.g., curriculum development, lecture preparation, how to prepare and give a scholarly presentation, developing an educator's portfolio, collaborating with mentors and mentees, and how to be an effective team leader)
  • Special opportunities to provide formal teaching to cohorts such as medical students, junior residents, and other professionals
  • A scholarly project of the CE track resident's choosing (e.g., poster, publication, workshop, or curriculum)
  • Education stipends for presenting original work at national meetings
  • Participation in the applicant interview process for the residency program
