UIC Grand Rounds

Academic Year 2020-2021

The UIC Department of Psychiatry provides a regular series of Grand Rounds lectures with Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Category 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours. The program is ACCME accredited through the University of Illinois at Chicago, Continuing Medical Education Office.

These lectures are held from September through May on Wednesdays from 1 PM – 2 PM by Zoom. Registration is required to be able to attend the lecture. The registration link is posted on Grand Rounds event page. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

John Zulueta MD

  • Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry
  • University of Illinois at Chicago
Dr. Zulueta received his medical degree from Northwestern University. He completed his psychiatry residency training at UIC and stayed on to complete a fellowship in clinical informatics. He is interested in the application of new technologies and data science to the problems of psychiatry.

Edwin H. Cook Jr. MD

  • Director, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Dr. Edwin Cook is the Director of Center for Neurodevelopmental Disorders and the Director of Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at UI Health. Dr. Cook is board certified in both Psychiatry and Neurology. He specializes in treating ADHD, Autism, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Stuttering. Dr. Cook is also the Earl M. Bane Professor.

Robert W. Marvin MD

  • Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry
  • Director, Residency Training and Education Program
Dr. Marvin is the embodiment of the new direction academic psychiatrists are working towards at the University of Illinois Medical Center. Having trained at University of Wisconsin for medical school, he came to Illinois for his Psychiatry Residency Training. After graduation in 1999, he stayed on as Assistant Professor and became active in the clinical and educational missions of the department.

Heide Klumpp PhD

  • Associate Professor
Dr. Klumpp's main research interest is using a cognitive-affective neuroscience approach to understand anxiety and depression for clinical translation. She uses neuroimaging to delineate brain markers of response to psychotherapy to increase therapeutic success with available treatment and develop more individually-tailored, novel interventions. In addition, she translates discoveries from basic neuroscience to enhance therapies for anxiety disorders and depression.

Anand Kumar, M.D., is Lizzie Gilman Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from MadrasMedicalCollege in Madras, India.
