UIC Grand Rounds

Academic Year 2024-2025

The UIC Department of Psychiatry provides a regular series of Grand Rounds lectures with Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Category 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours. The program is ACCME accredited through the University of Illinois Chicago, Continuing Medical Education Office.

These lectures are held from September through May on Wednesdays from 1 PM – 2 PM.

John Zulueta MD

  • Assistant Professor of Psychiatry
  • Director, Ambulatory Program
  • University of Illinois Chicago
Dr. Zulueta received his medical degree from Northwestern University. He completed his psychiatry residency training at UIC and stayed on to complete a fellowship in clinical informatics. He is interested in the application of new technologies and data science to the problems of psychiatry.

Edwin H. Cook Jr. MD

  • Earl M Bane Professor of Psychiatry
  • Associate Head, Clinical Services
  • Director, Program for Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Dr. Cook is the Director of Program for Neurodevelopmental Disorders and the Associate Head of Clinical Services in the department. Dr. Cook is board certified in both Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He specializes in treating comorbid psychiatric disorders for individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Dr. Cook is also the Earl M. Bane Professor of Psychiatry.

Edwin Cook Jr

Heide Klumpp PhD

  • Associate Professor
Dr. Klumpp takes a neuroscience approach to understand internalizing disorders such as anxiety and depression for clinical translation. To this end, she uses electroencephalography and magnetic resonance imaging to delineate brain-based markers of clinical behavior and treatment outcome. She also uses sleep measures (e.g., actigraphy) to understand the intersection of sleep and internalizing disorders.

Anand Kumar, M.D., is Lizzie Gilman Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago. Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from Madras Medical College in Madras, India.
