Learn MoreThe Child Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service (CL) provides urgent consultations to the pediatric inpatient unit and specializes in treating medically complex children who have comorbid psychiatric diagnoses. Diagnoses include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorder related to the medical condition. The CL team is also available at all times for telephone consultations to the pediatric ambulatory and emergency services and acts as a liaison to the general and specialty clinics at IJR.
The CL Team responds to pager #1134 for urgent diagnostic assessments, disposition planning, and behavioral interventions on 5W.
We provide urgent consultations to the pediatric inpatient unit and specializes in treating medically complex children who have comorbid psychiatric diagnoses.
Dr. Elizabeth Charney currently directs the Child Psychiatry Consult-Liaison service which provides psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents hospitalized at UIH. Dr. Charney is involved in the DCFS supported inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit at UIH and serves as a consultant to the DCFS Psychopharmacology Consent Line. She consults to primary care providers with the Il Doc Assist program. She is actively involved in teaching resident trainees and medical students. She coordinates the medical student elective in child psychiatry. Dr. Charney does not accept outpatient referrals.
James Chambliss MD, MPH is an attending physician at UIC working on the inpatient Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment Unit (CATU) unit as well as Consult Liaison. He graduated from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and completed residency at the Broadlawns-UnityPoint Psychiatry Residency program. Upon graduating Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) program, he joined the faculty.
