West Side Domestic Abuse Program
The
WSDAP was formed in April 1997 as a collaborative community effort
dedicated to ending men's violence against women and children. The
Great Cities Program of UIC provided initial funding of the formation
of a University- Community collaboration designed to develop and implement
intervention services for men who batter.
A comprehensive intervention program for heterosexual men to end the
physical, emotional, psychological and sexual abuse of their intimate
female partners.
PROGRAM
GOALS

Promote
safety of victims, men in program & staff

Hold
men accountable for their abusive behavior

Challenge
men to examine and change beliefs that support violence against
women

Train
men in skills of anger management, stress reduction, and effective
communication

Provide
resource referrals and safety planning for women victims and child
witnesses

Training
and consultation on providing interventions for men who batter

HAYMARKET
CENTER
Batterer
intervention groups are part of a comprehensive relapse prevention plan
for men with a history of substance abuse and women abuse.

1: Client registers with WSDAP at the Haymarket Center

2: Client completes a a substance abuse evaluation and comprehensive
psychosocial evaluation

3: Client completes a orientation workshop
