WMHRP Previously Funded Research

Since 2002, Dr. Pauline Maki and the researchers in the Women’s Mental Health Research Program (WMHRP) at UIC have developed a program of NIH-funded research on women’s mental and cognitive health throughout their lifespan. Early research focused on the role of sex steroid hormones on cognitive aging, mood, brain function and stress responsivity in healthy women. This research was extended to the study of women with HIV and led to ground-breaking work with the Women’s Interagency HIV Study (WIHS).
