Washington Post Quotes Gibbons on Antidepressants, Suicide Risk in Young Adults Robert Gibbons, Ph.D., was quoted in a Dec. 14 Washington Post article on the use of antidepressants and the risk of suicide in young adults. “What we are seeing is the early signs of an epidemic of suicide in children who are no longer being treated for their depression," Gibbons said in an interview referring to the FDA's black box warning that caused a decline in antidepressant prescriptions for children. Dr. Gibbons predicted dozens more suicides as a result and warned that any expansion of the black box would have a similar impact on adults.
