Mustanski Receives $20,000 Grant to Develop LGBT Research
Brian Mustanski, Ph.D., received a $20,000 grant from the David Bohnett Foundation, which provides seed funds for new research projects focused on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) people. The grant was awarded to Dr. Mustanski, as the PI, on behalf of the Chancellor’s Committee on LGBT Issues. The award provides seed funds to graduate students, faculty pilot projects, and faculty research of national significance that can be accomplished with limited funds. Dr. Mustanski said, “UIC has a uniquely critical mass of faculty conducting research and scholarship on LGBT people across the spectrum of health sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Funding such research can be difficult in this area because it is a relatively new field without a substantial foundation on which to base your science.” Dr. Mustanski encourages Psychiatry faculty and trainees interested in conducting research on LGBT mental and behavioral health to consider applying for this award, and welcomes inquires on the subject.

    Policies & Procedures
Over the next few months we will be providing and implementing Department Electronic, Network, Computing Policies and Procedures. All Department Policies and Procedures will be reviewed and endorsed by the Information Technology Steering Committee (ITSC) prior to presenting to the Department.

Because of our relationship to UIC and College of Medicine there are some Policies we automatically inherit. Two such policies:

    1. Information Security Policy - The University of Illinois
    2. University Guidelines on the Sale, Donation, or Transfer of Computer Hard Drives and Other Magnetic Media

These policies can be found on our web site using the following link: https://intranet.psych.uic.edu/is/ you will be required to “log-in” to access these policies.

We will make both of these policies (along with others forth coming) a part of new employee orientation, but to those of us already in the system we are asking that each of you please take the time to read these policies.

If you have any questions concerning any policy or procedure please contact Lloyd Keith, thank you.
