Behavioral Health & Welfare Program Receives AACAP Rieger Award for Excellence
The Behavioral Health and Welfare Program (BHWP) and its various programs was selected to receive the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Rieger Program Award for Excellence. The Rieger Award is one of AACAP’s most prestigious awards. The award was given in recognition of the BHWP’s importance, innovation, and uniqueness. In partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the BHWP (CARTS, Clinical Services in Psychopharmacology, Applied Services Research and Mental Health Policy) designed and implemented several projects that have had or promise to have a beneficial, perhaps even transformational role in improving the quality of mental health services provided to children in Illinois. These projects include, but are not limited to the Transition Project, the Runaway Project, the Psychiatric Hospital/Residential Treatment Center Network, the Technical Assistance Group, the Center for Child Welfare Training, and the DCFS Centralized Psychotropic Medication Consent Line. The award reflects well on UIC, the Department, and IJR. It is also a tribute to DCFS’ vision and leadership.
Fox Takes First Place at ADMSEP Poster Competition
Geri Fox, M.D., received first place in the poster competition at the American Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry (ADMSEP) Annual Meeting in Galveston, TX, on June 14. Her poster was entitled, “Using Stimulus Videotape to Teach Normal Development in Medical Student Education.” At the same meeting, Dr. Fox also presented a workshop with Steve Schlozman, M.D., (MGH) entitled, “Increasing Medical Student Exposure to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through Mentoring and Clinical Experiences.”
Policies & Procedures
Over the next few months we will be providing and implementing Department Electronic, Network, Computing Policies and Procedures. All Department Policies and Procedures will be reviewed and endorsed by the Information Technology Steering Committee (ITSC) prior to presenting to the Department.
Because of our relationship to UIC and College of Medicine there are some Policies we automatically inherit. Two such policies:
- Information Security Policy - The University of Illinois
- University Guidelines on the Sale, Donation, or Transfer of Computer Hard Drives and Other Magnetic Media
These policies can be found on our web site using the following link: https://intranet.psych.uic.edu/is/ you will be required to “log-in” to access these policies.
We will make both of these policies (along with others forth coming) a part of new employee orientation, but to those of us already in the system we are asking that each of you please take the time to read these policies.
If you have any questions concerning any policy or procedure please contact Lloyd Keith, thank you.
