Top Candidate Wimberly Accepts Post-Doctoral Health Psychology Internship
Sue Labott, Ph.D., last week announced that Sarah Wimberly has accepted the post-doctoral internship in Health Psychology. Ms. Wimberly was the top candidate. She is currently completing her predoctoral internship at VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle, and will be getting her Ph.D. from University of Miami (Coral Gables).
NIAAA Awards S Pandey 5-Year RO1 to Study Neuronal Signaling in Alcoholism
Subhash Pandey, Ph.D., received a five-year RO1 grant for about $1.4 million from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, effective April 1. The project, titled “Neuronal Signaling in Alcohol preference,” will investigate the signaling and chromatin remodeling mechanisms in the extended amygdala as a neurobiological substrate for genetic vulnerability to anxiety and alcoholism.
Bhaumik to be Associate Editor for Journal of the American Statistical Association
Dulal Bhaumik, Ph.D., been invited to serve as an associate editor for the Journal of the American Statistical Association, (JASA). JASA is one of the most prestigious statistical journals in the world.
Clinical Neuropsychology Residency Program Matches Top Candidates
Last week’s newsletter inadvertently listed an incorrect name. The Clinical Neuropsychology Residency Program directed by Lisa Stanford, Ph.D., recently announced that it matched its top Pediatric and Adult Neuropsychology candidates. The Adult Neuropsychology Fellow will be Lauren Schwarz who is completing her internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and who will soon receive her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Saint Louis University. The Pediatric Neuropsychology Fellow, Carla Morton, is completing her internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago. She is also doing a minor clinical and research rotation with Dr. Stanford and will receive her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
Mar. 30 Deadline for Nontenured Faculty Seeking or Considering Promotion
Assistant Professors and Associate Professors on the nontenured Research, Clinical Discipline or the Clinical Track who are interested in applying for promotion this fall must meet with Dr. Dove and obtain his approval by March 30. The Psychiatry Department Intranet web page has links to important information, including deadlines, blank forms, norms for promotion, and a blank CV template. All prospective candidates, including junior faculty who are considering applying for promotion in the next few years, are urged to visit the site: https://intranet.psych.uic.edu/p_n_t/index.htm. The last workshop, An Overview of the P/T Tenure Process, will be offered in NPI conference room 438 on Thurs.
