S Pandey Presents Grand Rounds at Howard University
Subhash Pandey, Ph.D., gave a grand rounds lecture at the Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine, Howard University in Washington, D.C., last Wednesday, March 7. Dr. Pandey’s lecture was titled “BDNF signaling and amygdala: Role in anxiety and alcohol abuse disorders.”
Mar. 30 Deadline for Nontenured Faculty Seeking or Considering Promotion
Assistant Professors and Associate Professors on the nontenured Research, Clinical Discipline or the Clinical Track who are interested in applying for promotion this fall must meet with Dr. Dove and obtain his approval by March 30. The Psychiatry Department Intranet web page has links to important information, including deadlines, blank forms, norms for promotion, and a blank CV template. All prospective candidates, including junior faculty who are considering applying for promotion in the next few years, are urged to visit the site: https://intranet.psych.uic.edu/p_n_t/index.htm.
Candidates and junior faculty also should try to attend both workshops, Planning for Promotion/Tenure and Enhancing Your CV, and An Overview of the P/T Process (timing, deadlines, the forms, documentation, etc.). Three workshops on each topic have been scheduled throughout March. The last workshop on Planning for P&T and Enhancing Your CV will be offered Thurs., March 22, from 9 to 10 a.m., in NPI Conference Room 438. An Overview of the P/T Tenure Process will be offered in NPI conference room 438 this Wed., March 14, from 12 to 1 p.m.; next Monday, March 19, from 3 to 4 p.m.; and again on Thurs. Walk-In Faculty Photo Shoots Today and Wednesday
Walk-in, 4-minute photo shoots are scheduled for Monday, March 12, in IJR from 9 am to 12 noon, room 263, and Wed., March 14 in NPI from 9 to 11 am in NPI room 329. No appointment needed. The medical center has been scheduling similar opportunities for clinical faculty to get photos for use on the hospital’s Find-a-Doctor web site. The Marketing Department invited us to include ALL faculty.
