The CETL-TRP selection process is peer-reviewed and criterion-based. There were 19 awardees recognized at UIC. Drs. Fox, Connolly, and Sharma will be honored by the campus at an Oct. 7 recognition dinner.

Fall Organizes International Systems Biology Course at Cold Spring Harbor
Chris Fall, Ph.D. has been invited to organize a cutting-edge international summer course in Systems Biology at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, along with Greg Smith of William and Mary, Tim Elston of UNC, Leslie Loew of UConn, and John Tyson of Virginia Tech. The course, “Computational Cell Biology,” is the first of its kind and will bring together internationally known researchers and a highly selective group of students to discuss how to create mathematical models of cellular processes including signaling systems, gene expression, and cell motility. For summer of 2008, this course will be sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Faculty Seeking Promotion/Tenure this Year to Meet with Dr. Dove
Faculty who will apply this year for tenure, or who wish to apply this year for promotion must meet with Dr. Dove by March 31. The department’s intranet site, https://intranet.psych.uic.edu/p_n_t/index.htm offers important information on topics such as norms for promotion on the various faculty tracks, blank application forms, and a CV template. If you have questions or need information, please contact Debbie Rissing at 5-3370, or drissing@uic.edu.

    Policies & Procedures
Over the next few months we will be providing and implementing Department Electronic, Network, Computing Policies and Procedures. All Department Policies and Procedures will be reviewed and endorsed by the Information Technology Steering Committee (ITSC) prior to presenting to the Department.

Because of our relationship to UIC and College of Medicine there are some Policies we automatically inherit. Two such policies:

    1. Information Security Policy - The University of Illinois
    2. University Guidelines on the Sale, Donation, or Transfer of Computer Hard Drives and Other Magnetic Media

These policies can be found on our web site using the following link: https://intranet.psych.uic.edu/is/ you will be required to “log-in” to access these policies.

We will make both of these policies (along with others forth coming) a part of new employee orientation, but to those of us already in the system we are asking that each of you please take the time to read these policies.

If you have any questions concerning any policy or procedure please contact Lloyd Keith, thank you.
