Clerkship Standardized Patient Exam Instructions
Welcome
to the M3 clerkship standardized patient exam. Following are your instructions
for the day, also the time and date of the exam assigned to you which
will take place in the Performance Center.
1. You will be interviewing
a total of 3 patients today, for 30 minutes apiece. Your interview should
cover the basics of a good history/psychiatric interview, including
a mental status exam. You are not required to perform a full cognitive
exam unless you believe this is crucial to a given patient's exam.
2. The sequence
will be as follows :
A. Interview your
1st patient (30 minutes)
B. Do: mental status exam/differential diagnosis on computer
patient satisfaction questionnaire (on your performance)
on computer
C. Interview your 2nd patient (30 minutes)
D. Do: mental status exam/differential diagnosis on computer
patient satisfaction questionnaire (on your performance)
on computer
Make differential diagnosis as complete as possible.
E. Interview your 3rd patient and last patient (30 minutes)
F. Fill out a: mental status exam/differential diagnosis form
patient satisfaction questionnaire (on your performance) (15 minutes)
Failure to do so
will result in a failing grade.
