Junior Clerkship INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING NIGHT CALL PROCEDURES When going on duty, go to a campus telephone in the University Hospital, call the page operator at x6-2242, and ask her to page the "Psychiatry R.O.D." (resident on duty). At UIC the pager is #3927, at Jesse Brown VA Med Center the pager is #1219. You can dial these numbers directly if you are at UIC by dialing 136, and at the VA 590-136. Room A125 at the VA, 820 South Damen, has been assigned for the medical student on call as sleeping quarters, for both men and women. The "Psychiatry R.O.D." will also be staying at the VA. Meals are provided in the 2nd Floor Dining Room. On Weekdays, call is from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. (15.5 hours). On Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays call is from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. (24 hours) the following morning. Wednesday call will end at 11:00 pm in order to have a full day on Thursday to attend the required lectures at UIC. As per the recommendation of the COM, medical students are allowed (but not required) to leave their clinical site after 30 hours of work. Therefore, if a students begins work at 8:00 am and remains on call for 24 hours, he/she may leave work at 2:00 pm. Morning Report is held Monday through Friday only at 8:00 a.m. in Room 8105 UICH and at the VA in the PAC (Psychiatric Admitting Clinic) on the Ground Floor-North, 1st hallway off the lobby.
