Psychiatry
Junior Clerkship UIC
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT
OF PSYCHIATRY (M/C 747) To: All Psychiatry Clerks From:
Sean Blitzstein, M.D., RE: Absences _________________________________________________________ Any anticipated absence from any session of the clerkship is to be arranged in advance with the immediate supervisors, and approved by Dr. Sean Blitzstein/Birute Pabedinskas. All absences are to be reported to Birute Pabedinskas, 312-996-6219, and to your immediate supervisors for that day at the site. This includes night call. Unexcused absences will be grounds for failing the clerkship. At UIC, calls regarding unexpected absences are to be made to your supervising attending/resident and to Birute Pabedinskas, Associate Director. Medical students assigned to call on holidays follow the same procedure as assigned on a Saturday or Sunday. Students assigned to a site that observes a holiday not observed by the University may honor that holiday only if they do not have an assignment at the University (see memos in your binders). Lectures are scheduled on Thursdays, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. starting on May 1, 2008. The lectures are a required segment of the clerkship and attendance is taken. Lectures are given at 1747 W. Roosevelt Road, Room 361. There will be a Clerkship Evaluation Session at the end of the clerkship. The evaluation session will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 361. All students are required to attend, lunch will be served at this session only. Students are reminded the clerkship ends on the last Friday of the rotation and are expected to have completed their assignments by that day. Students are required to complete all administrative requirements (e.g., obtaining I.D.'s) during the two days of orientation and begin their clinical duties during the first day of the clerkship. Students are asked to carefully check the night call schedule for any possible conflicts and bring them to the attention of Birute Pabedinskas, (996-6219) Room 348, 1747 W. Roosevelt Road, in order to make appropriate changes and arrangements. NIGHT CALL IS ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED. ATTENDANCE WILL BE REPORTED BY THE RESIDENT ON CALL. ABSENCE FROM NIGHT CALL WILL RESULT IN A GRADE OF "UNSATISFACTORY" FOR THE CLERKSHIP AND, THUS, NO CREDIT. |
