Psychosis in bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder is defined by occurrence of depressive plus manic, hypomanic, or mixed episodes.
Pt is promoted from hypomania to mania by the presence of one of three features: psychosis, hospitalization, or marked social impairment.
This is an imperfect set of criteria, however, because psychosis may or may not be an integral part of bipolar disorder.
