News An article co-authored by Patrick Tolan, Ph.D., L. Hanish, M. McKay, and M. Dickey, entitled, “Evaluating process in child and family interventions: Aggression prevention as an example,” in the Journal of Family Psychology, 16, 220-236, was named the “Outstanding Research Publication in Marital and Family Therapy” for 2002. In
separate news, Dr. Tolan was appointed to the Joint Crime Enforcement
Coalition, a multi-agency commission focused on reorganizing juvenile
arrestees’ management and reducing crime in Chicago. It is a
collaboration of the Chicago Police, the Chicago Public Schools, Cook
County States Attorney's Office, Cook County Juvenile Court Probation
Office, the Department of Children and Family Services, the Mayor's
Office City of Chicago, and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
In addition, Dr. Tolan was interviewed by WGN TV on the pattern of
recent incidents of adolescent aggression toward others, by WBEZ on the
hazing incident in Northbrook, and by Parents Magazine for an
upcoming article on aggression as normal child behavior.
