Rasenick Testifies Before a Senate Subcommittee Regarding Cuban Neuroscience

Last week Mark Rasenick, Ph.D., testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Latin America, Narcotics and the Peace Corps regarding Senate Bill 1017, "Bridges to the Cuban People Act." Dr. Rasenick testified on the benefits of increased cooperation with the Cuban Neuroscience community in basic and clinical realms. He was also asked to comment on the Bush Administration's assertions of Cuban Bioterrorism.

Dr. Rasenick explained work that he and Moises Gaviria, M.D., are doing in Latin America and the use of biomedical research and exchange as a means of promoting peace and understanding. He also described some of the Cuban advances in Neuroscience such as EEG imaging, Low Cost/Low field MRI, and the Meningitis B vaccine etc. And he noted that Cuba is a promising site for clinical trials.
