Donenberg Receives NIH Grant for HIV Prevention in Youth with Mental Illness

Geri Donenberg, Ph.D., was recently awarded a new five-year grant by the National Institute of Mental Health. Dr. Donenberg is Co-Principal Investigator on the grant, entitled "HIV Prevention for Youth with Severe Mental Illness." Other researchers on the multi-site study are based at Brown University and Emory University. The project is designed to reduce HIV risk behavior among adolescents who have been hospitalized for psychiatric problems. The project uses a three-group randomized control trial design to assess the added benefit of including parents in the intervention.
