September 23, 2011 Dove and Fox Elected to 2011-12 UIC COM Executive Committee
Henry Dove MD and Geri Fox, MD, MHPE, FAACAP were elected to the Executive Committee for the UIC College of Medicine for the 2011-2012 academic term. The interview was widely distributed by Reuters. She was contacted based on her NIH-funded research conducted when the events on 9/11/01 occurred, as well as her current NIH-funded research on the relative salience of varied macro level stressors, including the economic recession. CCTS Announces Fall 2011 Pilot Grant Program The Center for Clinical and Translational Science announces the CCTS Pilot Grant program for Fall 2011. The grant is designed to provide funding for trainees, new investigators, and other researchers to increase the competitiveness of extramural proposals and the number of investigators motivated to conduct clinical and translational research. Pilot grants can be up to two years in duration ($30,000 each year, with second year funding contingent upon progress), with a focus on activities needed to prepare competitive NIH grant proposals. . RFA for CCTS KL2 Scholar Program Due Oct 17 Applications for the Center for Clinical and Translational Science Scholars Award are due by October 17th. This Award supports the research efforts and career development of clinician scientists dedicated to patient-oriented research. The award will support clinical research training and career development for individuals in clinical disciplines and professions. NIH Internet Course: Intro to Principles and Practice of Clinical Research CCTS reports that NIH will offer a free, non-credit course, “Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research” via the internet (live or through video archives) from October 17, 2011 through March 13, 2012.
