Dr. Razzano is a tenured Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Training and Education Programs for the CMHSRP. She also holds a certification as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP). Currently, Dr. Razzano is the Principal Investigator (PI), co-Investigator (co-I), or Evaluation Director (ED) for multiple federally funded studies of mental health service and treatment programs, recognized internationally as an expert on mental health, psychiatric rehabilitation, and services research, with particular expertise in vocational rehabilitation and employment, treatment adherence, and special topics, including the mental health aspects of HIV/AIDS and community re-entry and formerly detained individuals. She is a member of the editorial boards of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal and Journal of HIV/AIDS and Social Services. Dr. Razzano has received several awards for her contributions to the field, including the Armin Loeb Research Award for exemplary scholarship and contributions to the field from the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (USPRA) in 2005, the John M. Davis Research Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Greater Chicago in 2007, and the UIC Mentor of the Year Award in May 2009. She also is an elected member (and former chairperson) of the USPRA Research Committee, and has been elected to the USPRA Executive Board through 2012.
