University of Illinois Medical Center is proud to serve the city of Chicago and suburbs by providing inpatient psychiatric care for adults struggling with acute symptoms of mental illness. UIC’s inpatient psychiatry unit can provide treatment in a safe, secure environment for up to 37 individuals. Four specialized treatment teams are here to provide thorough diagnostic evaluation and effective individualized treatment to patients with a range of symptoms. Our treatment teams are comprised of specialists in Psychopharmacology/Psychiatric Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Social Work. We focus in the areas of Psychotic Disorders including First Episode Psychosis; Women’s issues including emergence or exacerbations of mental illness during pregnancy and post partum; Mood and Anxiety Disorders including late life depression and Neurobehavioral Psychiatry including the treatment of catatonia.
