At IJR, our innovations in the lab, the clinic, and the community are advancing children’s mental health. Our approach is driven by a commitment to understanding individual children and their families—how they cope, what daily struggles they face, and how they react to treatment. We also recognize that the best way to advance policy and practice is by folding this understanding into the next generation of research.
Scientists at IJR are engaged in a wide range of studies, including unraveling the genetics of autism to better understanding bipolar disease and defining key characteristics of other major disorders in children. They are also developing treatments and interventions for youth struggling with behavioral and antisocial disorders, violence, health problems, and other threats that can cut down a child before he or she has a chance to shine.
