                                            Role:  Primary Investigator
                                            Type:  1 R03 DA025977-01
Goals are to investigate decision making functions and their                                             relationship to HIV risk behavior among a group of MSMs enrolled                                             in the Chicago MACS who use drugs.

2.  2006-2011                     "Cognitive Neuropsychology of HIV and Drug Abuse"
                                            Agency:  NIDA
                                            Role:  Primary Investigator
                                            Type:  2 R01 12828-06
The goals of this project are to investigate the effects of HIV and                                             drug abuse on executive function in HIV+ and HIV- subjects with a                                             history of cocaine or heroin dependence compared with HIV+ and                                             HIV- non-drug using controls to investigate further the                                             relationships between executive deficits, procedural learning,                                             response inhibition, and indices of HIV risk behavior and daily                                             function.

3.  2008-2010                     "Morphometric Studies of HIV and Drug Abuse: A Pilot"
                                            Agency:  NIDA
                                            Role:  Primary Investigator
                                            Type:  R03 DA024975-01A1
The goals of this project are to obtain preliminary data on brain                                             structure among a group of HIV+ and HIV- cocaine addicts.

4.  2008-2009                     "Neuropsychological Function in the Multicenter AIDS Cohort                                             Study "
                                            Agency:  NIAID
                                            Role:  Co-Investigator
PI:  John Phair, Northwestern University                                             Goals were to evaluate neurocognitive function in HIV+ men who                                             have sex with men and HIV controls enrolled in a multicenter                                             longitudinal study of HIV disease progression.

1.  09/30/2008-08/31/2011  "Neurocognitive Disinhibition and Cannabis Addiction: A Career                                             Development Award"
                                            Agency:  NIDA/NIH
                                            Role:  Primary Investigator
                                            Type: K23 DA023560
This career development award provides training in addictions                                             neuroscience, conducting substance abuse research with                                             adolescents, and longitudinal research methods. The research                                             plan examines neurocognitive risk factors for development of                                             cannabis addiction among adolescents and young adults.

1.  2008-2013                     "Varieties of Impulsivity in Opiate and Stimulant Users"
                                            Agency:  NIDA
                                            Role: Primary Investigator
                                            Type:  R01 DA021421-01A2
The major goals of this project are to examine the personality,                                             psychiatric, and neurobehavioral manifestations of impulsivity in                                             heroin and stimulant addicts and to determine how impulsivity                                             relates to HIV risk behaviors.

2.  2008-2009                     "Neurocognitive Impulsivity and HIV Risk Behaviors in Bulgarian                                             Heroin Users"
                                            Agency:  NIDA
                                            Role: Primary Investigator
                                            Type:  R21 DA025417
The goal of this project is to examine how neurocognitive indices                                             of impulsivity relate to HIV risk behaviors in Bulgarian heroin                                             users.

3.  12/01/2006-11/30/2008  "The Role of Impulsivity in Substance Use and HIV"
                                            Agency:  NIAID
