Dr. Pickett-Schenk is an Associate Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry, and Director of Training at the Department’s Center on Mental Health Services Research and Policy. She is a nationally renowned expert on familial coping with mental illness, with a specific focus on family education and support programs. Her numerous publications in this area include family education and support needs, ethnic minority family caregiving experiences, family education and support group participation benefits, and caregiving gratifications. Dr. Pickett-Schenk’s research also includes studies of mental health service satisfaction among ethnic minority consumers, treatment outcomes for homeless persons with mental illness, vocational rehabilitation, wraparound services for children with serious emotional disorders, and psychosocial rehabilitation outcomes. In recognition of her contributions to mental health services research, Dr. Pickett-Schenk received the 2003 Arnim Loeb for Outstanding Research in Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services from the International Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services.
