Dr.
Paikoff's research is focussed on normative developmental
processes during the transition to adolescence.
She currently directs a basic study of family process
and its relation to HIV risk exposure among urban
African American youth, as well as a prevention
program aimed to assist families in negotiating
the transition to adolescence. She is currently
supported by an NIMH career development award, which
focusses on continuing her current work, as well
as expanding her research in the directions of understanding
mental health factors and development prior to adolescence.
