Madeline Muecke, LCSW, BCD, is senior clinical social worker in Women's Mental Health, where she specializes in helping individuals heal from childhood and/or adulthood trauma, either single or multiple incidents. In addition, she focuses on work with clients around issues related to women's concerns, depression, bipolar disorder, grief, loss, relationship problems and blocks to moving toward goals. Her practice combines helping clients work through problems and developing and building their strengths. She has 30 years of experience in the Department of Psychiatry working with individuals, couples, families and groups, including 18 years in the Mood Disorders Clinic, where she developed a family practice program. Muecke is certified in EMDR, a treatment approach to trauma recommended by the American Psychiatric Association and the Department of Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense. She has also served as social work staff supervisor and consultant and training supervisor/educator for psychiatry residents in group work and family therapy and practice. For the past 12 year Muecke was on the faculty of the Jane Addams College of Social Work, UIC, teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, she has worked in private practice for 7 years and has presented at national and local conferences and workshops.
