Laura J. Miller, M.D., is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is the Associate Head and Director of Clinical Services of the Department of Psychiatry. She is the Director of the UIC Women’s Mental Health Program, a program that won the American Psychiatric Association’s Gold Achievement Award for innovative mental health services and the American College of Psychiatrists’ Award for Creativity in Psychiatric Education. She also heads the UIC Peripartum Mental Health Project. She graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Psychology, then from Harvard Medical School. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Michael Reese Hospital, and a residency in Psychiatry at the University of Chicago. She has published over 60 articles and book chapters, mostly in the area of women’s mental health, and edited the book Postpartum Mood Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Press. She has served on national expert panels for creating guidelines and reports on screening, assessment and treatment of perinatal mood disorders.
