director of Outpatient Services, I developed the following programs:
1980-
present -Diagnostic and Walk In Services - This service was
developed to provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for
patients entering the Department of Psychiatry for treatment.
it involved the major teaching component for PGY-1 residents
and a substantial component for PGY-3 resident education.
1983
- 1992 - Comprehensive Care Clinic This clinic was created to
specifically serve the needs of chronic schizophrenic patients
who had been admitted to the inpatient unit. It involved a large
commitment to psycho-educational techniques and group therapy.
1990-1992
- Core Clinic - This program wee developed for short term outpatient
treatments including intense psychotherapy pharmacotherapy and
group therapy to suit the needs of managed care programs with
which the department of psychiatry contracted.
1990
- present - Partial Hospital Program - This program was developed
to decrease the mean length of stay of psychiatric inpatients
and to provide a teaching resource for the area of chronic care.
